A casual observer browsing through the recent scoring totals for Rancocas Valley might think these belong to the school's football team, not its ice hockey program. But in climbing over the .500 mark for the season the Red Devils have scored 33 goals in their last three games, including 13-goal and 14-goal efforts in the last two.

Senior forward John Czarnick has ignited the attack of late. Czarnick shot a remarkable seven goals in the Red Devils' 14-5 win over winless Clearview (0-16-1), including a natural hat trick in the second period. Czarnick now has 25 goals in his last eight games, an incredible level of output even for the South Jersey league (SJHSIHL) where end-to-end play is common.

On the season, Rancocas Valley (9-8-1) has been led by Sean Fleming, who also had a big hand in the Red Devils' recent three-game winning streak. Fleming has averaged more than four points per game this season, amassing 38 goals and 40 assists in 18 contests. Earlier in the season Fleming had his own fiery eight-game stretch, in which he totaled 24 goals. He is currently the league's second-best scorer behind Eastern's Billy Bascou (80 pts).

Rancocas has also enjoyed big production from Andrew Heinz. The junior forward has 23 goals and 28 assists in 17 games. Heinz has six multiple-goal games on the season, including a two-goal effort against Eastern (11-6-2).

The Red Devils have several big games left on their slate, with four of their last six games against teams that are just ahead of them in the standings, including Shawnee (9-9-2) on Jan 11 and 18.

Washington Township currently leads the South Jersey Varsity Division at 16-1-1, ahead of Moorestown (15-1-2) and Cherokee (14-3-3).
